Renewable at the heart of the packaging policy

We offer strategic advice on making packaging more sustainable and we offer support in the field of communication to clients and employees. PLUS has created a packaging policy, which was established with input from the expertise of Schuttelaar & Partners. The packaging policy focuses on 4 goals: less packaging, renewable where possible, increasing the amount of recycled content in packaging and increasing the recyclability. This packaging policy is leading in the choices that PLUS makes for their packaging and innovations on it. Therefore, PLUS pays attention to prevention, less plastic and renewable.

PLUS has made several changes in the past five years. For example, PLUS was the first supermarket to stop using black plastic, they banned double lids, they make an annual overview of the reduction and they engage with discussions such as the Single Use Plastics (SUP) legislation.

Common goal

With a team of consultants and designers, we work on various activities for PLUS, including providing packaging advice and creating a policy. This policy is discussed with external parties and converted into a one-pager. In addition, progress is discussed with all purchasers once every quarter. PLUS and S&P have a common goal to improve the sustainability of packaging in order to promote human and environmental health in the Netherlands, and to contribute to a circular economy. We are committed to develop better packaging together with the suppliers.
