Targeted impact
Through performing a double materiality assessment, Karsten International identified the sustainability topics that matter most to them. This process examined both the topics on which Karsten International has or may have a (positive or negative) impact (impact materiality) and those that (may) influence Karsten International’s financial performance (financial materiality). The assessment incorporates insights from both internal and external perspectives, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation. By doing so, Karsten International is able to concentrate its efforts and resources on the issues that are truly significant to them.
The double materiality assessment
By combining our sector expertise with insights gathered from desk research, we compiled an initial list of potential material topics. This list was validated through consultation with both external and internal stakeholders. Interviews with external stakeholders not only refined the list but also provided valuable strategic insights, helping Karsten International gain a deeper understanding of the sustainability topics that matter most to their key stakeholders.
To gather perspectives from internal stakeholders, we used our CSRD Scan, followed by two in-depth workshops – facilitated in close collaboration with Karsten International. During these workshops, the outcomes were further finetuned, adding further value by integrating Karsten’s expertise perspectives into the assessment process. The outcomes were finally validated with external stakeholders, ensuring a well-rounded approach.
The project resulted in a robust double materiality assessment and ditto outcomes, providing Karsten International with a solid foundation to further build out its sustainability strategy and focus its reporting efforts effectively.
