Sustainability report with a new look

HEMA takes major steps every year to take their sustainability report to a higher level. In 2023, their sustainability team sought collaboration with their colleagues from the communication department. This led to the question for a new look for HEMA's sustainability report and they asked the ESG and design team of Schuttelaar & Partners to think along and to guide the creation of the report, including data collection and writing.

More transparency and more layering

Not only was a new look important for HEMA's report, but transparency and sharing about progress is of course also a priority. We achieved this with an online magazine: a reader can read in-depth information with 'read more' buttons, but you can also scan and understand the full picture. This is how you create a report fit-for-purpose.

For example, in the 2023 report, HEMA proudly talks about the steps it has taken to strengthen the position of workers in the value chain. In 2023, they drew up an action plan towards a living wage for all workers in the value chain, together with their suppliers. HEMA also introduced a two-way code of conduct, a code of conduct that not only sets requirements for suppliers, but also describes HEMA's own responsibilities. This, and more initiatives, ensures better cooperation with suppliers.

Interaction

How do you guide a reader through the amount of information? And with the CSRD, that will not be any less for companies. With the layering of information and interaction with videos and infographics, we have made the content easily accessible to every reader. By offering the option of viewing statistics afterwards, we learn which information appeals most to readers, which will allow us to improve even more in the coming years.

We are incredibly proud of the collaboration between our ESG team, our design team and HEMA!
