Mapping the current packaging landscape
To map the current packaging landscape for HAK, a comprehensive study has been conducted on HAK's three packaging types, focusing on legislation, technology, and consumer and market aspects. For legislation, for example, the expected impact of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and national measures such as the National Circular Plastic Norm (NCPN) have been examined. Regarding consumers and the market, factors such as consumer perception and the sustainability goals of major retailers have been considered. Additionally, technological developments with regard to resource usage, CO2 emissions, and recycling have been analyzed.
Translation into future scenarios
The current developments have been extrapolated into the future (± 2030), and based on this, potential effects on the three packaging forms have been estimated. This has resulted in an overview of the risks and opportunities for each of the three packaging types. Think, for example, of which packaging performs best when online grocery shopping becomes more prevalent? And which packaging has the most potential if reusability becomes the new normal?
A future-proof packaging vision
Mapping out these scenarios helps HAK shape their future packaging vision and strategy. Additionally, it identifies the opportunities and risks of the current packaging assortment, providing concrete starting points for the steps that can already be taken to further optimize HAK's packaging.
