Visualizing SDG wheel Lamb Weston/Meijer
Lamb Weston / Meijer
Lamb Weston / Meijer (LW/M) is a global leader in growing potatoes and processing these into frozen food products. Sustainable farming and processing is key, as LW/M shows its customers and stakeholders. Its sustainability strategy consists of six pillars: the ‘Sustainable Six’. Each pillar has its own KPI’s and a connection to the United Nation’s Sustasinable Development Goals (SDG’s).
The 17 SDG’s provide guidance for companies and organisations in directing their sustainability efforts. LW/M first analysed to what SDG’s it naturally contributes. Next step is focusing its efforts to even better support the achievement of the SDG’s.
Working with SDG's
For LM/M we created the SDG-wheel: a model with the Sustainable Six and their KPI’s. Plotting the different SDG-icons in this model, visualises the contribution of each pillar – and LW/M overall - to the 17 SDG’s. The SDG-wheel is designed in the look-and-feel of LM/M and has different formats tailored to be used efficiently and effectively for each medium.
SDG wheel for impact
Both internally and externally, LW/M has been using the SDG-wheel since the model was created in 2018. As it clearly shows the connections between the Sustainable Six and the SDG’s, the wheel yields an interesting platform for discussion. Based on this, the SDG-wheel is continuously updated and improved, offering opportunities for LM/M to enter the next stage in which it will further focus its efforts on specific SDG’s to create positive impact.
