The Royal Dutch Hunters Association (Koninklijke Nederlandse Jagersvereniging) is the representative of hunters, for hunters and game management units in the Netherlands. The Hunters Association does this by providing organizations, politicians and the Dutch public with background information and data on hunting and by collaborating on important themes.
Number of collisions with animals increases
Due to the increasing traffic in The Netherlands, more and more wild animals are being hit. Last year there were more than 10,000 animal collisions. In Gelderland alone there are an average of 10 collisions with wild boar and 26 with roe deer every week. The consequences are always big, for humans and animals. Hunters play an important role in preventing and assisting with collisions and thus contribute to increasing road safety in the Netherlands. By managing the populations of game they prevent collisions. They also do a lot of other activities to prevent collisions, such as placing game mirrors along a busy road.
Creative concept & design
The Hunters Association wants to bring this story to the attention of the wider public by linking it to a theme that appeals to people: traffic safety. At the request of the Hunting Association, we developed a creative concept that tells how hunters, through their work, contribute to safe traffic: Daar Jagen Wij Voor (This Is Why We Hunt). We translated the creative concept into a website, flyers, social media content and shelters.
National and local PR
On October 13th of 2020, in close cooperation with the Hunters Association, we launched the 'Daar Jagen Wij Voor' campaign in five municipalities in the Veluwe: Apeldoorn, Voorst, Heerde, Oldebroek and Brummen. The campaign shows in what way hunters contribute to increasing road safety, less animal suffering and less damage. In the five municipalities the campaign includes a special 'wildkroket' promotion (snack made from boar and dear meat), outdoor advertising, a social media campaign and school visits.
In cooperation with the Hunters Association, we also took care of the national PR at the start of the campaign. This led to a lot of media attention for the increasing number of collisions and awareness about what to do in case of a wildlife action. In addition, we focused on local PR in the five municipalities and organized a culinary tasting to highlight the campaign and ‘wildkroket’.

Awareness, less (animal) suffering and sustainable meat
By creating support for the work of the hunters in the Netherlands, we contribute to awareness about collisions with animals and less animal suffering. In addition, we offer a sustainable, delicious ‘wildkroket’ in the five municipalities. This snack is made from the shot game, so good quality food is used instead of being thrown away.
